Tsunami warnings have been issued for three countries after the dangerous tremors of the earthquake. These include Vanuatu, Fiji, New Caledonia. According to the United States Geological Survey, this earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers of the ground.

The Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-Hazards Department issued a warning, writing that an earthquake of this magnitude has the potential to generate a devastating tsunami that could strike coastlines near the epicenter and more distant coastlines within minutes. The National Disaster Management Office advises people throughout Vanuatu Group to take appropriate action and precautionary measures upon receipt of this advice. This includes immediate evacuation from coastal areas to higher places.
